Last week I had surgery on my knee and got to experience test taking while on some medication.
I missed majority of the week so I don't know what went on.
Thanks Miss Wagner for another great Year.

Last week we read some more short stories out of our text book.
We worked together in groups to learn apply different literary terms to the stories.
We created questions to discuss with the class.

- Last week we selected some stories from our lit book that looked interesting to us.
- We read a story called everyday use.
- We had a class discussion on the story.
- I like the class discussions because they are helpful.

- We finished the Alchemist.
- We did some more group discussion on it. We wrote a summary of what we thought the book was about and turned it in and had other groups look at them and choose one to discuss.
- Our small group chose one to discuss. I said that Santiago persevered to discover his personal legend.
- I like the group discussion. It helps find deeper meaning in the stories.

March 19
- This week we started reading the short story The Alchemist.
- We performed our group activities and did our inner/outer circle talks.
- I realized it's really hard to talk in the inner circle sometimes because everyone is trying to get their two sense...
- I have no new questions.
March 12
- This week in AP Lit we did practice essays for the AP Exam.
- We discussed the various differences between three essays ranked from good to bad and how we might better our own.
- I realized that it's best to include one or two main points but elaborate on those further than doing more points but less explaning. Quality over quantity.
- I have no new questions.
March 5th
- Last week we continued discussing Satire and its various aspects. We also took a quiz over "A Modest Proposal."
- We didn't really discuss much in class, besides that pertaining to our Satire Projects.
- I didn't really contribute much to class but I feel that our project was well done.
- I have no new questions right now.
february 27
- We started discussing satire and it's use in A Modest Proposal.
- We learned about the many different uses of satire, different kinds of satire that you could use, and how they are used to prove a point.
- I learned that satire is a useful tool used in literature to prove a point sometimes using comedy, other times darker humor.
- I have no new questions.

- This week in Ap Lit we finished reading Hamleti and finished the week with a timed writing assignment on one of three writing prompts.
- We completed projects about the themes found in Hamlet. I chose the theme of "Appearance vs. Reality" for my project.
- I realized this week that there can easily be more than one message an author can portray in one work of literature and various themes all play a part to convey the message.
- I have no new questions right now.
february 13
- This week in AP Lit we finished reading Hamlet. We also watched video versions of the final two scenes, including one with Robin Williams.
- We discussed the final two scenes of Hamlet and what happened in the deaths of each of the characters.
- I don't think I really contributed much to AP Lit this week actually. Maybe a few remarks here and there.
- I have no new questions.

PRETTY FLOWER ASSIGNMENT! BEAUTIFUL TYLER KLASE
1) The flower's Ophelia holds are imaginary. At this point she is a very frazzled and confused girl, having been split in many different directions by the people and feelings in her life. She is going, for less of a better word, crazy.
2) Yes, each person's flower represents her emotions toward that person.
3) I see King Claudius recieving the fennel because he married his brothers wife so quickly after his brothers death. I see Queen Gertrude recieving the daisy because she had forsaken her love for King Hamlet and married his brother Claudius so sortly after his death. I believe Laertes recieved the rosemary as a symbol for his to remember his father and herself as before death and grief had wiped it all away. I think if Horatio recieved a flower it would be a violet because he was such an honorable man and a faithful friend.
4) Ophelia keeps some rue for herself as she is in sorrow because of her father's death and Hamlet's madness.
5) I think Ophelia does give away a Daisy. Giving Gertrude a Daisy and Violets makes a lot of sense and pertains to what Gertrude has done.
6) We believe he receives the pansies because she knows him as Hamlet's friend and knows he is a pensive, thoughtful man.
1. Aloe, Buttercup, Yellow Chrysanthemum, Jonquil, Yellow Lily, Marigold, Snowdrop
2. Buttercup, Basil, Yellow Carnation, Yellow Lily, Dead Rose, Dead Blue Violet
3. White Chrysanthemum, Dead Daisy, Dead Jonquil, Dead Ivy, Dead Red and White Roses.

Movie Clips
In the first scene we watched, Hamlet was much more calm during the speech whereas during the second with Mel Gibson, there seemed to be more feeling or passion in his words. The final scene that included Ophelia made it seem like Hamlet was actually starting to go crazy.
January 23
Last week we still were working on Hamlet and I'm assuming the same thing for this week.
We really went into depth on the "to be or not to be" speech given by Hamlet and we watched three different clips of his speech.
An insight that I had was the Hamlet was actually a little bit unsure if what he was doing was right.

Last week we continued reading hamlet!
We studied some of the rather less entertaining parts of hamlet but some of the most important.
Something I contributed was my desire for blood shed. I was reassured this would be fulfilled.
Why has no one died yet?

January 9th
Last week we began reading the novel "Hamelt".
We discussed Hamlet's emotional state of being and what he was going to do now that he knows his father's death was planned.
I did not know that Hamlet was so distressed that he wanted to kill himself.
No new ideas or questions this week.

We went over diction in a powerpoint and then we went to the computer lab to work out diction for ourselves.
I learned the diction is not just words, but how the author uses those words to convey his/her message.
An insight that I had was that diction can come in a wide variety of forms all depending on the author.

Hamlet Movie Comparison
The 1st movie clip of the ghost scene in Hamlet was extremely dark. Hamlet himself seemed to be quiet throughout the scene. There was alot of crying . The emotions where definately the focal point of this movie.
The 2nd movie clip seemed to be more modern. It was in a different time era. There was people with him when he first saw the ghost. It wasnt accurate according to the play. They seemed to emphaze the craziness of Hamlet.
In 3rd movie clip I noticed that the intensity of the characters increased. The setting seemed to be more focused on. They showed more scenes of the surroundings of the characters. The characters were not focused on. The actual poisoning was shown and they showed flash backs which helped you picture the past

Diction
Every writer uses diction but the difference is how a writer uses it. A word's connotation can totally change what a writer is trying to say without knowing it. It's important to use specific diction that applies to your own writing.
The only thing I have trouble with concerning diction is being more specific with how I choose to approach a subject.
